On August 5, 2015 I went to the Britt Library to use the internet
and I also talked to the Library workers.
I asked them if they missed Iowa Blackie and
they all responded, "NO". ha ha
I miss Blackie as I'm sure the rest of the BO's miss him.
Blackie died 2-24-2011.

High School Dropout from Olympia, WA makes good - Becomes a Hobo!

I ran into Walker in Britt, Iowa in Aug-2015 at the 115th National Hobo Gathering. When he arrived at the Hobo Jungle, he appeared to be just another young guy on the lam. Probably a drunk, druggie, or both, right? We usually get a few each year. But then I noticed Ramona, a large DOG of unknown origin. Ramona was friendly and well behaved so I figured that this guy might be OK.

This was his first time to Britt even tho Walker has been out on the road for 11 years. He thought Britt would be a good place to sell his self-published book, "Train Song". I became his first customer. The "font" is the first thing I noticed. He tells me the font was developed from his own handwriting. Very unique, as is Walker and his writing style. The generously descriptive stories are a real treat and dead on. If you have been out on the road or on the streets, you would recognize his take on, "... neon-pink pickled gas station sausage" and "the lonesome whistle of uncut freedom."
